It’s an improved cement board that has the benefits and proven performance of traditional DUROCK® cement board, plus some great new features.
It’s the lightest cement board; the easiest to cut and fasten; installs 20% faster and protects against moisture and mold. Like traditional DUROCK® cement board, the next generation of DUROCK cement board is also non-combustible.
New DUROCK® cement board Next Gen benefits from engineered technology that results in a lighter, yet better, product with improved performance and productivity characteristics. It combines lightweight cellular concrete technology, including a special water-repellant perlite filler and a unique combination of raw materials, which makes it 25% lighter than the traditional DUROCK® cement board. The next generation of DUROCK® meets the product specification established for CBU’s (Cementitious Backer Units) as set by ANSI and ASTM.
Because it has all the great features of traditional DUROCK®, plus improved handling and installation, the next generation of DUROCK® cement board has replaced the traditional product.
As with traditional DUROCK® cement board, there is a 30-year warranty for interior applications and a 10-year warranty for exterior applications.
Yes, you can use the product in exterior applications as a substrate for exterior finishes, tile, stone or thin brick. The fact that it’s a cement board means that it has the durability to be a perfect match for exterior uses.
